RESULTS 2009

ROUND 1

SENIORS

Not a brilliant turn out for the first round but hopefully numbers will grow throughout the season. First blood in the seniors goes to John Baker, last year's champion, I wonder if anyone will get close this year and make a challenge? Perhaps it will be John Foster who ran in a close second place. Good to see Tony Friston up there in heat 3 as well with his new boat. 2 new drivers this year to watch, Tiff Harkins and Duncan Wilson who came in third on his first appearance..........a. man to watch?

JUNIORS

It was good to see a new face this year, Morgan Wilson has joined the fray under the watchful eye of Dad Duncan. I hope she enjoyed her first taste of racing and will be back for more next round. William Bell won through to first place and his boat looks in good shape with only seconds between his lap times and first placed senior John Baker. Charlie Gilson gave him a good run for his money though and maybe he can get even closer next round.

ROUND 2

SENIORS

A beautiful sunny day greeted the racers this time and there was some excellent racing with a full heat of 8 competitors. John Baker went to the front and stayed there but was closely followed by John Faster who was only second behind him and Tony Friston who seems to be going from strength to strength. This years Championship is certainly not a one horse race and anything can happen.

JUNIORS

4 juniors fought it out today with the lead changing during heats. Charlie Gilson, despite a poor 3rd heat finally managed to win the day and his final score would have earned him 2nd place among the seniors. Well done Charlie! Come on girls don't let the side down.

ROUND 3

SENIORS

Sun and a slight breeze greeted us for round 3 at the Summer Open Day on 2nd August and the racing did not disappoint especially for those members of the general public who came to see what we do. John Baker was in fine form with a top score in the second heat and running out winner on the day. What was worthy of note was that no boats turned over and everyone finished all 3 heats. How good is that? Plus some of the driving was very close indeed.

JUNIORS

Only 2 competitors this time but both drove well and finished all 3 heats, just like the seniors. I think Will's Dad has been tinkering because Will's boat is going extremely well and in fact equalled John Baker's high score of 14 laps 20 seconds in heat 2. (Maybe it was the water conditions?) Alex gave Will a good run for his money for a few laps in each heat but Will gradually pulled away to a win.

ROUND 4

SENIORS

A good turnout of  8 competitors today with windy conditions on the water and some bumps and bruises given and received! Most impressive was Tony Friston who is rapidly improving his scores and came second overall. Even John Jenkinson won a heat which was great news for him. Despite improving drivers John Baker managed to hang on to first place but even he is finding that the pack are closing in now.

JUNIORS

Only 2 racers this round with Luke Burton standing in so Alex could race. Well done and thanks Luke. I think there were some plans made before the racing started as I have never seen Luke drive so badly but then he was looking after a lady after all!

ROUND 5

SENIORS

Some great racing, good scores but not without incident this time. It was really anybody's race with Tiff Harkins winning heat one (yes, she has got the transmitter working properly now!) the  John Gilson heat 2. Tony Friston increased his score by a full lap each heat and in heat 3 the first 4 boats were only separated by 17 seconds, each one completing 15 laps.

JUNIORS

Only 2 juniors again this time, what has happened to the rest I wonder. Charlie Gilson was back on track again winning out over Alex Harkins. Maybe they would both score even higher if they didn't chat so much to each other during the racing?

ROUND 6

SENIORS

A good turnout for the last round of the season with some good racing for all to enjoy watching and competing in. What has John Foster done to his boat, it was really moving well? John Gilson was in hot pursuit just waiting for Fozzie to make a mistake but he didn't giving 'Gilly' a well deserved 2nd place. John Baker had leaking problems which ended his chances of a last win but made no difference to the final season's results. One to watch next year will be Tiff Harkins who has finally got her interference problems solved and her boat is going well now. Let's look forward to 2010 and more fun!

JUNIORS

Only 2 juniors to fight out the final battle with Will Bell leading the way getting faster with each heat and gaining first place. Missing 2 rounds this year has cost Will the Championship but I'm sure we will all congratulate Alex on a great first season. Watch out Alex, the boys will be back next year!
